What to expect
[Clouds: Ahead] (2026)
The late-twenties filmmaker trades a long-term relationship and a secure apartment for a return to her parents’ home and the uncertainty of a creative career. As she gazes at the sky, she imagines her view extending to a more promising future, one in which she can afford a place of her own. Window frames become portals for reflection, within which she uses personal archival material to reinterpret a life crisis and portray relationships with the people whom she has shared, shares, and hopes to share space with. Perspectives of her former and current companions reveal how the housing crisis is reshaping the lives and relationships of a generation, because today, falling in love with someone who owns property is a fantasy equal to winning the jackpot. This is a story about living within frames and dreaming beyond them, bounded by the cinematic frame itself, within which anything is possible, even keeping your head in the clouds when economic reality keeps pulling you back down to earth.
It shares its release window with Backrooms, so expect the two fanbases to be reacting side by side.
It hits the big screen on May 29, 2026.
